Introduction

The Fleet standard of Inmarsat proposes a very large range of services for voice, fax and data transfers. The Fleet range of products and services is divided in 3 sub-products: Fleet 33, for fishing and yatching, and Fleet 55 & Fleet 77, designed for merchant shipping.

Characteristics

Fleet 33

The Fleet 33 is very compact and targets principally small vessels, like fishing and yatching. The possibilities of the Fleet 33 are numerous: Internet access, e-mail and intranet connection, phone, fax, remote control, VPN, weather information, remote maintenance… The Fleet service proposes a voice canal at 4.8 Kbps, with a global coverage, and fax and data transfers at 9.6 Kbps under spotbeams. For data transfers, the invoice can be done per minute, in ISDN, or in volume, in MPSD* mode.

Fleet 55

The Fleet 55 is the ideal solution for merchant vessels, fishing boats and big yatchs. The Fleet 55 makes your vessel to become a real mobile office for connecting networks through VPN, exchanging e-mails, Internet browsing, positionning… The Fleet service proposes a voice canal at 4.8 Kbps, with a global coverage, and fax and data transfers at 9.6 Kbps under spotbeams. For data transfers, the invoice can be done per minute, in ISDN, or in volume, in MPSD* mode.

Fleet 77

The Fleet 77 is the more complete equipment of the Fleet range, and allows to access numerous applications. It is the best solution for merchant vessels. The Fleet 77 service proposes a voice canal at 4.8 Kbps, with a global coverage, and fax and data transfers at 9.6 Kbps, 64 Kbps and up to 128 Kbps , with a global coverage. For data transfers, the invoice can be done per minute, in ISDN, or in volume, in MPSD* mode. The Fleet 77 is also a very good solution for security, as it is agreed GMDSS.

* : Thanks to the MPDS, the Mobile Packet Data Service, communications are invoiced per volume, and not per minute. You are invoiced only for the data exchanged. This service totaly suits for e-mails exchanges and small data transfers. In MPDS mode, the transfer is realized in shared mode, at 28 kbps for uploads and 64 kbps for download.
