Cobham Explorer 710

Land - Fix

The Cobham Explorer 710 is a high-performance, ultra-portable BGAN (Broadband Global Area Network) satellite terminal designed to deliver high-speed connectivity, voice, and data in areas without terrestrial infrastructure. It stands out for its ability to support High Data Rate (HDR) streaming services.

HDR

Inmarsat’s High Data Rate streaming service, enabling speeds of up to 650 kbps.

Bonding

Ability to pair two Explorer 710 terminals to double transmission speed, exceeding 1 Mbps.

Portable

Compact (332 × 279 × 54 mm) and lightweight (3.2 kg) design, ideal for rapid deployment.

IP66

High protection rating ensuring the antenna’s resistance to dust and powerful water jets.

Key Features

High-speed Streaming (BGAN HDR)

The Explorer 710 is the first and only Class 1 BGAN terminal to support Inmarsat’s High Data Rate (HDR) streaming service. This capability enables guaranteed streaming speeds of up to 650 kbps on a single terminal. Such performance is essential for bandwidth-intensive applications such as live video broadcasting (live newsgathering) and fast transmission of large files, setting a new benchmark for mobile satellite communications.

“Plug and Play” Bonding

Another major innovation of the Explorer 710 is its simplified bonding capability. By simply connecting two Explorer 710 terminals with an Ethernet cable, users can double the effective throughput, achieving potential streaming rates above 1 Mbps. This feature is critical for media professionals and demanding users who require maximum bandwidth for field operations.

Compact Design and Multifunction Interfaces

This BGAN terminal is robust, lightweight, and compact, making it the smallest Class 1 BGAN terminal on the market. It includes a full set of interfaces, including two Ethernet ports (with PoE), a USB port, an ISDN interface, and Wi-Fi connectivity (access point). It also supports smartphone applications (EXPLORER Connect App), allowing users to manage voice calls and connectivity directly from a mobile device, simplifying configuration and use without a PC.
