IsatPhone 2

The IsatPhone 2 is Inmarsat’s satellite phone built to work where other networks fail. Successor to the IsatPhone Pro, this rugged handset (IP65, IK04) covers voice calls, SMS, low-bandwidth data (messaging, no web browsing) and GPS location across the entire globe, poles excepted. It connects to an external antenna or a Bluetooth earpiece; its SIM card works on a subscription or prepaid basis, with the assistance and advice of our E-SAT teams.

Key Features

A Reference Tool for Safety and Mobility

With its durable design, long battery life and built-in safety functions, the IsatPhone 2 (revision 2.1) adapts to critical situations. It provides voice, low-bandwidth data, SMS and GPS location. Its dedicated SOS button sends a geolocated alert to the contact of your choice and the tracking mode transmits your position at regular intervals. The handset even receives incoming call alerts with the antenna stowed, to stay reachable on the move.

Performance and Ease of Use

Designed for quick handling, the handset offers a clear interface, even for first-time users. Its high-visibility transflective screen stays readable in direct sunlight and network registration is remarkably fast. Resistant to weather, shocks, sand and dust, it maintains constant call quality in extreme conditions, from -20 °C to +55 °C.

Inmarsat Coverage and Voice Quality

The Inmarsat network relies on geostationary satellites covering the whole globe except the polar regions. This architecture delivers stable, clear voice and a constant link with no satellite-to-satellite handover. For operations beyond the polar circle, the E-SAT assessment will point you to an Iridium handset; everywhere else, the IsatPhone 2 delivers proven reliability at a controlled cost of use.

Long Battery Life for Remote Missions

Up to 8 hours of talk time and 160 hours on standby: Inmarsat's handset supports several days of mission without recharging. The micro USB port allows charging from the mains, a power bank or a vehicle. A precious safety margin for teams operating far from any power source.

Land and Maritime Use in Remote Areas

NGOs in landlocked countries, civil-security teams, mining operations, offshore sailors and journalists on assignment: this product equips professionals who leave mobile networks behind for long periods. Rented for a few months or purchased for a permanent fleet, it fits into any communications continuity plan. A solar charger or a power bank usefully completes the kit for camps without electricity.
